This 2-hour launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel (which connects Lakes George and Edward) brings you incredibly close to hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes drinking at the water’s edge, and thousands of waterbirds. It’s one of the most productive wildlife-viewing experiences in Uganda. Cost: Approximately USD 30–40 per person.

Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge Trek into the beautiful Kyambura Gorge — known as the “Valley of the Apes” — for a chance to encounter habituated chimpanzees. The search can last 1–6 hours, but once you find them, you get one magical hour observing these intelligent primates up close. You may also spot other monkeys along the way. Chimpanzee Tracking Permit: Around USD 100 per person (foreign non-residents). Book in advance.

Tree-Climbing Lions in Ishasha Sector Head south to the remote Ishasha sector, famous worldwide for its unique tree-climbing lions. These majestic predators often lounge on the branches of fig trees during the heat of the day — a rare sight found in few places in Africa.
